Veterans from the St Paul’s Cathedral “tent city” have joined forces with local residents unhappy about construction work on a temporary basketball practice venue at Leyton Marsh.
Site sources said Olympic Delivery Authority chiefs were planning to visit the site today to talk to protesters.
The camp sprang-up last weekend and has halted construction work all week.
The campers have set-up a field kitchen, washing-up area and communications tent and are being supported by the local Save Leyton Marsh group who have blocked deliveries to the site by laying down in front of lorries.
An Olympic delivery Authority spokesman said : ““The basketball training venue is a temporary structure that will be removed within a month of the end of the Games, and the land restored to its previous state.”
