Construction is expected to begin in spring 2014 with a 2016 opening for the development which will be anchored by John Lewis.
Hammerson said: “The store will form part of the 37,000m2 first phase of Eastgate Quarters, which will introduce two new retail streets drawing on Leeds’ thriving arcade heritage and create a direct route between the Victoria and Eastgate Quarters.
“In addition to the flagship John Lewis store, this £130 million phase will provide up to 30 additional retail units for aspirational brands, six restaurants, new leisure space and a 600 space multi-story car park.”
The Eastgate Quarters scheme could be worth up to £470m in total and is a major part of Hammerson’s development pipeline (below).
