The service will be launched in summer 2014 with repairs and maintenance services being brought in-house over the following 12 months.
John Gregory, housing services director at One Housing Group, said: “We know and care for our customers and our properties more than anyone else and we have a clear incentive to deliver high quality, lasting repairs together with outstanding customer service.
“We have worked successfully with several different maintenance contractors over the last few years. This is a vital service and after careful consideration we have decided to bring the service in-house.
“We believe we can improve service quality, reduce ‘double handling’ and bureaucracy and put more money into actual repairs without increasing the overall budget.
He said that expected savings would be ploughed back into building more affordable homes and extending employment and apprenticeship programmes for residents.
Due to the different demographics and geography of London and Berkshire and the successful partnership with the current maintenance provider, the Group’s 1,300 properties in the Berkshire area will continue to be serviced by Housing Solutions.
