Sainsbury’s is working with Barratt London and housing association L&Q to built 737 homes, an 80,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s store and 27,000 sq ft of local shops, restaurants and offices.
Bachy Solentanche has the job to bore 1,300 piles to depths of around 36m on the job.
The scheme, which includes a new Nine Elms tube station, is part of the wider transformation of the area along the south side of the Thames.
Over the next 15 years, 18,000 new homes, 25,000 new jobs and two new town centres will be created, as well as a linear park, two new schools, arts and cultural facilities and the £1bn Northern line extension to Battersea Power Station from Kennington.
Jamie Cowen, Head of Mixed Use Development at Sainsbury’s said: “We’ve been trading from this site for 30 years and our plans will complete the wider regeneration and create a better shopping experience as well as building space for other shops, businesses and much needed housing in the area.”
Alastair Baird, Regional Managing Director at Barratt London said: “This is an outstanding site in one of the most important regeneration projects in London and we are delighted to be working with Sainsbury’s.”
