All 2,818 homes which formed the Athletes’ Village for the 2012 Games have now been retrofitted.
Alan Bates, Lend Lease’s Project Director at East Village and Executive General Manager for Private Sector Construction, said: “The transformation of these legacy homes from the Athletes’ Village into East Village has been a monumental project for the UK, and the pace at which it has moved has made it one of the most challenging ever undertaken.
“During this final phase our team were delivering an average of 85 homes each week over eight months, allowing residents to immediately move into their new homes, an incredible accomplishment for a site of this size.”
East Village forms part of the Stratford City Masterplan and sits adjacent to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park where Lend Lease and London & Continental Railways are developing The International Quarter.
The International Quarter will deliver more than four million sq ft of high performance workspace, with a completed value in excess of £1.3bn.
It will be delivered by Lend Lease and LCR in a 50/50 joint venture with the first phase, a 330-unit residential development named Glasshouse Gardens, successfully launched off-plan earlier this year.
