The £10m Storey’s Field Centre will be located in the new local centre of the development and overlooks Storey’s Field, the new open green space in the middle of the site.
The building is in close proximity to the supermarket and shops, and is situated south of the University of Cambridge Primary School which opens in September 2015.
Farrans will build the community centre designed by MUMA (McInnes Usher McKnight Architects) to achieve a BREAAM Excellent standard and will work with Turner and Townsend project management and Gardiner and Theobald cost management.
Construction works on the Storey’s Field Centre will begin in September and the building is due for completion in late 2016.
Farrans’ Managing Director, John Wilson said: “We have been based in Cambridgeshire for over 67 years, and our selection as the contractor for this exciting project is a key milestone in our history.”
