Ardmore has landed a major new contract to build a 21-storey apart-hotel on Commercial Road next to the City of London.

Work will start on the £80m tower in Aldgate next month and is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2019.

The Enquirer understands that Vinci was originally lined-up for the job by client Whitechurch Ventures Ltd which is a subsidiary of Reef Estates.

One London property expert said: “Vinci were in place but it seems there was a parting of the ways over the increasing construction budget.

“It was looking touch and go for the project for a while but the word is that Ardmore has now stepped-in and it is all systems go.”

Ardmore confirmed it has won the job but declined to comment any further.

The 178-unit apart-hotel will be operated by serviced apartment specialist Go Native once completed.
