Subject to planning permission, Kier is expected to start work on the £30m project in early Summer 2018, with completion expected by early Spring 2020.
The Student Precinct and the new Student Activity Centre, which will be built on the site of the existing Digital Technium building, forms part of £300m second phase of university’s 10-year masterplan.
Phase 2 developments include new buildings at the Bay Campus and further enhancement of the Singleton Park Campus.
An extra 500 student room will be opening at the Bay Campus this September, bringing the total number of rooms to just over 2,000.
Construction work has also started on more student residences and facilities at the Bay Campus, which will open in 2019.
