While Laing O’Rourke failed to secure a high speed rail line job, confirmation of its £1bn Manchester Airport contract levered it into third place among the clutch of successful HS2 firms.
According to construction information specialist Glenigan, Sir Robert McAlpine is now top of the rolling 12-month league of work won by value, shadowed by Laing O’Rourke and Balfour Beatty which both rose up the ranks on the strength of the August work haul.

Among the other big jobs secured during the month Laing O’Rourke also won a £110m contract for Starlight Theatre redevelopment in Manchester.
Lendlease is confirmed as winner of £500m contract for 150 Bishopsgate for UOL.
Galliford Try secured a £275m regeneration scheme for the London Borough of Ealing and Multiplex secured the £240m Jenga Tower in London.
