Vickers, previously a director at Carillion and Balfour Beatty before joining Clugston, oversaw a restructure of the senior management team creating a new operating platform for each of the company’s business units.
Last year the group ran up a £528,000 pre-tax loss despite revenue surging 40% to £175m but said it had a established a strong foundation for profitable growth going forward.
Clugston said that Vickers had decided that the next phase of the firm’s development required different leadership to take the business forward.
The Scunthorpe-based business has appointed Glynn Thomas as interim group CEO.
Thomas has a background in construction, as well as facilities services, in both public and private sector organisations.
Chairman John Clugston, expressed disappointment that Vickers had resigned, but added he was grateful for the positive contribution he brought to the group.
