We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced M&E Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial support including assisting in developing the commercial strategy for the Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD) project.
Based on-site as part of a team and reporting into the project Commercial Director, this is a permanent position that will be initially dedicated to the MECD project, which is due to open in 2020. The MECD project is one of the single largest construction projects ever undertaken by a higher education institution in the United Kingdom. Once completed, the site will be home to four engineering schools and two research institutes.
Working as part of the project commercial team, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will understand and influence the commercial performance of the MECD project through procurement, design and delivery.
By understanding and managing Commercial risks and developing cross departmental relationships ( including working with our specialist Offsite Manufacture division and supply chain), you will work with the team to make the construction process more efficient and progressive whilst delivering the Customer’s requirements and adhering to our core values
You will identify commercial risk and understand the contractual obligations for the project placed upon NG Bailey, ensuring these are mitigated and managed successfully throughout the duration of the project.
Identification and successful recovery of both NG Bailey and the Supply Chain’s contractual entitlement will be required throughout the project, including management of the project finances.
You will be an experienced, enthusiastic Senior Quantity Surveyor, or Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge, with previous experience of high cost, strategic projects, preferably from mechanical & electrical building services background.
You will need a keen eye for detail, excellent team working ethos and be self-motivated.
A good working knowledge of the NEC form of contract, in additional to other more traditional forms, would be advantageous, as would RICS membership.
