Notting Hill Housing will be working with construction firms United House, Durkan and Galliford Try on the £147m Gallions Quarter in the Albert Basin area of the Royal Docks.
The Housing Trust has also assembled a strong design team involving Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Maccreanor Lavington, MUF Art & Architecture.
The firms will build 700 homes – 280 of which will be affordable – and 45,000 sq ft of commercial space and community facilities.
There will now be a short period to finalise the contract between the LDA and the Notting Hill Housing Trust.
This should be followed by a planning application in January, with the aim of completing the construction of the entire scheme by 2018.
The Royal Docks is London’s biggest development opportunity and the London Development Agency is working closely with the London Borough of Newham to realise the full potential of the area.
London Development Agency Director of Development Stephen Kennard said: “Our vision for the Royal Docks is a place with vibrant communities with high quality homes and lasting employment.
“As part of that vision, we want to can create a new sustainable community in Gallions Quarter and Notting Hill Housing Trust’s proposals will do just that – build new homes, new business space and community facilities, all to high quality design standards, helping to create a lasting legacy in the Albert Basin.”
