£40m new services plan for M1 in South Yorkshire

Construction could start next summer on a new £40m service station on the M1 in South Yorkshire.

Plans for the 20-acre site at junction 35 near Chapeltown in Sheffield have been unveiled by the Extra Motorway Service Area (MSA) Group.

The plans would create more than 400 construction jobs and will be submitted to Sheffield City Council in the autumn.

Work on site is planned to start next summer, with completion in the spring of 2015, if planning permission is granted early next year.
