Called Readybricks, they are designed as spacer or coursing bricks, and can be delivered with standard block orders to site.
The new product is designed for use where the brick is covered by plastering or rendering, such as infills above doors and windows, coursing at floor and ceiling level as well as making up between joists.
Cemex said builders have embraced the new size with sales of Readybricks already exceeding launch targets.
The materials giant has gone into production at sites in West Calder, West Lothian; Buxton in Derbyshire and Northfleet, Kent.
Readybricks come in two strengths – 10N and 22N – in standard brick size.
One of the raw materials going into Readybrick is quarry dust, which would potentially go to landfill, making ReadyBrick an environmentally friendly choice, claimed the firm.
