Work got back underway yesterday on the Whitchurch Toll Bridge following delays due to dangerous river conditions.
Construction started last October but was halted on December 20 following advice from the Environment Agency.
The completion date for the crossing has now been put back from April to September with further delays due to be incurred because of overlaps with the start of the boating season.
About 6,000 vehicles a day use the 112-year-old bridge.
