The trio were unloading scaffolding at a retirement home site in Camberley when the lightning struck.
They are recovering in hospital after the incident which hurled them 12ft into the air.
Eyewitness Luke Williams told Get Surrey the noise of the strike was “like a grenade going off”.
He said: “We decided to investigate to ensure nobody was hurt.
“As soon as we entered we saw three men laying near a work van. We didn’t touch them I just called 999 and asked for an ambulance.”
“All the men were conscious when we got to the scene and as soon as we left them.
“There were also some other workers and bystanders, who weren’t injured, on site and at the entrance who made sure the men were okay until the ambulance arrived.”
