According to information specialist Glenigan, Balfour Beatty is in the race alongside seasoned major project builders in the capital, Lend Lease, Mace and Skanska.
Phase two of the £8bn project will see around 250 unique flats built above the existing building, with retail and office space below in the old generating space. A glazed roof will span the old boiler house.
The new homes were launched last month and will range in size from studio apartments to large five-bedroom ‘villas’ positioned beneath the four distinctive towers.
Mace starts out as favourite for the job after securing the construction manager role to deliver £100m of enabling works, including demolishing and rebuilding the existing chimneys and restoring the historic structure.
Work on the first of the four chimneys is due to start within weeks.
