According to information specialist Glenigan, Wates is framework contractor for the £650m renovation of a number of buildings on Parliament’s Northern Estate.
The massive pipeline order also saw Wates catapulted into the top four contractors for orders won over the rolling 12-month period.
Kier retains it pole position in the rolling league followed by Balfour Beatty, with Galliford Try in third place as its partnerships business picks up increasingly big orders.
Among the other big orders taken in May, Hounslow-based Henry Construction shot up the rankings after taking two London projects.
These were the £118m Dane’s Yard scheme in Newham for Vastint and the £100m Taberner House project of 514 flats in Croydon for joint clients, Legal & General and HUB Cambridge.
