Kier and Bam star in two Welsh frameworks worth £1.4bn

Kier and BAM Construction have secured major project places across two big Welsh building frameworks put up for renewal.

The firms pulled off double awards securing major project slots on both the £600m NHS Building for Wales 2 and £800m South West Wales Regional Contractors Framework.

A total of five bidders secured spots on the second generation four-year NHS framework, which has been divided into two value lots covering projects over £20m and projects from £7m to £20m.

A host of firms secured places on the second major framework renewal, the  South West Wales regional contractors framework for public sector building and housing works.

This latest generation framework includes new lots for housing in addition to lots for other public building projects across the region and is estimated to be worth around £800m over the next four years.

This new-build and upgrade framework sees Kier take a place in the major projects category for the first time joining Andrew Scott, BAM, Bouygues, Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon which renewed their places.

Emphasis has been given to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the Welsh supply chain, in a bid to support the local economy and boost employment.

There was also a large focus around net zero and carbon reduction initiatives in order to contribute to mitigating climate change, resource conservation materials, progress energy efficient buildings
