Contracts Director Stuart Hardie will take over as MD from June 1 ensuring continuity and stability for clients, employees and supply chain.
Clarke has played a pivotal role in shaping Baxall from its humble beginnings over 60 years ago as a family-run building firm into the £50m turnover company it is today.
During his tenure, the business has grown sustainably, strengthened long-term client relationships and delivered high-profile projects across London and the South East, from Net Zero in Operation new-build schools and Grade II-listed refurbishments to decarbonisation projects for the Met Police.
Clarke said: “Leading Baxall has been an absolute privilege. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together as a team and of the ‘right first time’ culture we have built. This is the right time to hand over to the next generation of leadership, and I have every confidence that Stuart will continue to drive the business forward while staying true to our values.”
With over 25 years’ industry experience, Hardie joined Baxall in 2022 following senior roles with national Tier 1 contractors. Widely respected throughout the business and supply chain, he brings to the role extensive operational and strategic insight, strengthening governance and embedding best practice across health and safety, quality and commercial performance.
He said: “I am delighted to take on the role of MD and to build upon the extraordinary foundations established by Malcolm. Baxall has an exceptional team, trusted clients and a clear strategic direction. My focus will be on maintaining our impeccable standards, supporting our people and continuing to deliver outstanding outcomes for our clients and wider communities.”
The leadership change forms part of a carefully planned succession strategy and will not affect day-to-day operations or project delivery. Clarke will remain with the business as Chairman, supporting the transition and continuing to contribute to Baxall’s long-term strategy.
