Enabling work starts next week on the project for the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Kirklees Council, adding to the contractor’s growing portfolio of transport interchange schemes across the UK.

The refurbishment will create a modernised bus station featuring real-time bus and rail information screens, upgraded security and improved accessibility facilities.

External works include a new entrance canopy, solar panels, a green roof, cycle parking and public realm improvements around the station.

The project forms part of the Weaver Network, West Yorkshire’s integrated transport system linking buses, rail, future mass transit services and active travel routes under a single brand.

Construction is scheduled to complete in spring 2028, with the bus station remaining fully operational throughout the works programme.

Groundworks will begin on 15 June following initial enabling works, while bus services will continue operating from temporary stands within the station.
