The Eastmoor Street project is the first Hyde-led development within the wider Charlton Riverside Opportunity Area, where the housing association has consent to build around 1,200 homes alongside new public spaces, commercial uses and improved access to the Thames Path.

Approval of the housing scheme near the Thames Barrier marks Hyde’s first project to clear the enhanced Gateway 2 process.

The affordable homes scheme allocates around two thirds for social rent and the remaining homes aimed at first-time buyers through affordable home ownership.

Formation worked alongside Hyde throughout the Gateway 2 application, coordinating architectural, structural, fire safety and construction information needed to satisfy the regulator’s stricter design and safety requirements.

Formation chief executive Sean O’Brien added: “This approval demonstrates the value of early and close collaboration between Hyde, Formation Design and Build, and the wider project team.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with Hyde, as we move into the construction phase and deliver much-needed affordable homes in Greenwich.”

Later phases of the Charlton Riverside development will include up to 8,000 new homes and thousands of new jobs, supporting London’s economy and its pressing housing need.
