HG Construction has secured Building Safety Regulator Gateway 2 approval for three major residential developments in a single month.

This clears the way for work to start on projects in Bristol, Manchester and London delivering a combined 664 build-to-rent apartments and student beds.

The latest approvals take the firm’s total Gateway 2 tally to 15 since the Building Safety Act regime came into force.

Three schemes approved

  • York Gate, Bristol – 221 build-to-rent apartments with ground-floor commercial and amenity space for Donard Real Estate, designed by Todd Architecture.

  • Apex Manchester, Ardwick – 239-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme for Far East Orchard and Woh Hup Group, designed by DAY Architectural.

  • Stour Road Phase 2, Hackney – 204-bed student accommodation scheme for Firethorn, designed by Henley Halebrown.

HG Construction said its integrated delivery model had helped streamline the complex Gateway 2 process.

The firm now self-delivers key packages including M&E, dry lining, piling, concrete frames, tower cranes and offsite bathroom and utility pods, giving greater control over design coordination and compliance.
