Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our established professional teams in our Northern region for Torsion Construction Limited.

You could be taking that next step in your career to support our commercial teams on typically high rise multi room projects across our Northern region, supporting the delivery of new high rise student accommodation/multi room projects.

Reporting to a commercial lead on a project you’ll bring your experience of regularly reporting on project performance and working successfully alongside other site-based construction professionals. It would be an advantage to bring experience of working with subcontract packages in a similar main contracting environment as Torsion Construction Limited.

Key Responsibilities

• This role will require you to develop productive and professional working relationships with all stakeholders, including members of our site based team and the wider supply chain. You’ll promote correct behaviours and ensure everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
• It will be important that you have awareness of the project-specific health and safety risks and go about your daily business in a safe manner.

In terms of project delivery, in this role you will;

• ascertain an understanding of the contract and its constituent parts, sufficient to appreciate the principal risks and opportunities that will need management on the project.

• familiarize yourself with the project business plan and understand your role in discharging various activities linked to the overall project delivery strategy.

• be prepared to be adaptable to changing situations and react in a professional fashion, managing your time to prioritise.
• establish and develop productive and professional working relationships with all stakeholders with whom you are likely to engage externally such as the supply chain and design team.

• assist with the drafting of all necessary documentation for procurement of sub-contractors and suppliers and assist the QS/SQS to ensure that other contributors for constituent parts provide their procurement information on time.

• support the monitoring of cost control and implement cost mitigation strategies, assessing risk, acting fairly and reasonably.

• contribute data to help monitor accurate cashflow and turnover forecasts.

• assist with ensuring that the company’s entitlement to value is maximized, assessing opportunity, at all times acting fairly and reasonably.

• assist with ensuring that all contractual notices, including payment applications and valuations, are issued professionally and on time.

• contribute data to assist with the production of a monthly commercial report, fully describing the position and plan for management of risk, opportunity, cost and value for those sub-contracts delegated to you to manage.

• support to ensure timely agreement of final accounts with your supply chain packages.
