Business Development Manager

The role is within the UK Construction Regions team which is a regional based role reporting into the Executive General Manager for UK Construction Regions. The Business Development Manager is a key role within the organisation and will drive the new work opportunities identified in line with the business plan for UK regions, which covers predominately the West Midlands and North West. The primary objective is to secure new public and private sector tender opportunities for projects and framework contracts. The role will not include people management initially, but this may change as the business unit grows. The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Strategy and Work Winning Lead in the UK Construction Regions.

Accountabilities:

  • Leading role in developing new clients and opportunities of the UK Regions.
  • Participate in UK Regions business planning and monitoring Coordinate UK regions SLT with regard to business development contacts, regular meetings and key messaging Lead the LL Regions marketing strategy.
  • Drive LL UK regions press opportunities including social media and internal communications
  • Identify and represent LL at public sector conferences in line with the agreed marketing strategy
  • Organise a wide range of UK regions business development events to market to external consultants and clients.
  • Follow up on initial leads generated and initiate meetings with clients and external consultants
  • Manage external client relationships with key public sector clients in the UK regions area
  • Manage external relationship with key consultants who work in the public sector in the UK regions area
  • Create and manage client and consultant engagement plans
  • Create and manage tender and framework opportunity capture plans
  • Contribute to live tender opportunities when required
  • Monitor trade press and journals, OJEU, relevant planning portals for new works leads applicable to UK Regions business plan for relevant tender and framework renewal opportunities and share information to SLT in agreed format in conjunction with Strategy and Work Winning Lead.
  • Report on status of identified pipeline opportunities on a regular basis
  • Create BPF papers with for agreement by UK regions SLT and submission to BPF forum
  • Monitor and report on business development business plan budgets in conjunction with regions finance manager
  • Attend regular UK regions business review meetings to report on business development pipeline status
  • Develop reporting formats for above activities and coordinate with the SLT and central winning work team to provide updates on pipeline for wider business use
  • Manage pipeline and bid information on Oli and ensure that it is consistent and up to date.
