Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Commercial Manager to play a key role in managing the financial aspects of our construction projects.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent understanding of various methods of construction and the associated costs. Previous experience within the groundworks and RC frame sector is preferred but not essential.
- Key Responsibilities:
1. To provide a high quality commercial service from pre-contract to final account in order to
ensure maximum profitability. This includes but not limited to:
- Prepare and submit valuations in line with the contract terms
- Understand fully the scope of works for each project and ensure the site teams have received the relevant information.
- Identify, monitor and agree variations values, using an appropriate method in a timely manner.
- Prepare and update cash flows as works proceeds.
- Agree payments with clients, maximising payment values ensuring a positive cash flow.
- Ensure the timely receipt of payments.
- Carryout reporting procedures including CVR’s, Commercial Reports, WIP, Budgets, Material Reconciliations, Sub-Contract payment forecast etc.
- Provide cost and other relevant advice at site level to ensure the maximum efficiencies in running the project.
- Understand the key contractual terms to ensure that the contract is administered correctly, protecting GCL’s position to claim time and/or money
- Identify when notices are required and highlight to the Commercial Director(s) to agree an action plan.
- Chase the payment of any retention money when it becomes due.
- Ensure the project valuations identify the anticipated final account.
- Agree the client account as stages complete and agree the final account at the earliest opportunity.
- Attend appropriate site meetings.
2. To procure, using the appropriate format and administer Sub-Contracts, including, issuing notices to commence, certifying valuations, issuing payment notices, monitoring and challenging variations and agreeing final accounts.
3. To develop client relations to facilitate continued repeat business, presenting the business in a positive professional manner. This will include dealing with client queries and customer care issues.
4. Be a team player providing advice and challenge appropriately to ensure the commercial interests of GCL are being secured.
5. Demonstrate and promote at all times GCL’s core company values.
6. The duties and responsibilities set out may be varied from time to time to reflect the changing environment and pressures the business may face
