An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Director to join our team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background. The Operations Director will be responsible to lead and manage the production operations of multiple projects ensuring delivery of projects to meet or exceed targets and expectations and managing customer relationships through to delivery, retaining the customer following the achievement of expectations.
Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to:
- Manage production outputs of projects including the management of Labour and plant levels across self-delivery projects
- Recruit and retain Labour force across the business, ensuring that sufficient resources are secured to meet the needs of the contracts to deliver effectively
- Line manage and develop Project Managers and other staff within the business
- Lead a group of Project Managers/Site managers to deliver projects safely and to time, cost, quality, and sustainability targets, meeting customer needs, and expectations
- Monitor, plan and control all financial expenditure such that financial targets for profit and margin are fully met
- Ensure all projects are setup to succeed including setting and managing production outputs on projects
- Lead by example to ensure great safety behaviours and a ‘right first time’ quality culture
- Participate in tender reviews, tender handovers, monthly Safety meetings, and monthly CVR project reporting meetings
- Deliver financial performance of those projects to ensure that financial targets and objectives are met or exceeded
- Responsibility to identify risk & opportunity and implement a strategy to deliver financial targets
- Appreciate and understand the commercial implications and drivers within the construction process and incorporate these within decision making working
- Manage the performance and success of customer relationships to ensure customer expectations are managed and achieved to retain customers
- Participate and support work-winning operational activities to the work-winning team to ensure appropriate cognizance is taken of all safety, operational and logistical issues in compiling tender proposals
- Provide support to the proposals team in ensuring that operational components of submissions are produced effectively and reflect the requirements of the project under consideration
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the level of this position
- Comply with Company policies & procedures
Experience/Knowledge:
- Experience in self-delivery project management and managing multiple projects
- Experience in:
- NEC and JCT contracts
- FRC, Groundworks and Earthworks
- Rail, highway, civil engineering
- managing a variety of works with both direct and subcontract workforce
- Strategic acumen is needed to manage performance and ensure success
- Managing teams across the multi-disciplines
- Ability to participate effectively in work winning
- Financial awareness to achieve financial targets and manage risk and opportunity

Qualifications:
- 5 Day SMSTS Certificate
- Appropriate CSCS Card
- Valid driving Licence
- Professional qualifications (if any)
