The project is the development of a £700 mln campus film studio near Waltham Cross. The purpose of the role is to deliver a quality service and product to our clients in line with the project goals by working with the Professional team, Trades, Vendors and applying ISG systems, procedures and culture. The role is a senior management position and the successful candidate will be expected to prepare and present reports, chair meetings with our Delivery Partners, Client and their Customers, and manage Engineering delivery on site, inclusive of Quality and Health and Safety. Commissioning is outsourced but ISG expects the Technical Services manager (TSM) to be actively involved in the Commissioning and Closeout of the Project.
Key accountabilities
- To manage MEP package of specialist systems, BMS, FA and Security, for a major project from design, through procurement, installation and commissioning, reporting into the Engineering Director.
- Lead BIM workshops and design reviews.
- To identify problems and offer solutions.
- MEP Design management, relevant to specialist systems.
- To review technical submittals, design and shop drawings for technical compliance against the Employers requirements.
- Input into the co-ordinated project programme and contribute information on installation and commissioning sequencing.
- To be actively involved in the design process, offer technical support and industry experience to the Design Team
- To monitor the design release against schedule, highlight any areas of the design at risk and propose mitigation measures, if construction dates are subsequently at risk.
- Management of trade contractors, relevant for package of works.
- Work with the trade contractors to establish quality sign off schedules for the package of works.
- Review, monitor and inspect quality of workmanship on site, checks in line with Employer's requirements.
- Monitor, trade contractor progress on site, hold regular progress meetings and highlight any programme risks and provide mitigation proposals.
- Review, comment and approve RAMs
- Monitor Health and Safety compliance on site
- Establish commissioning sign off's and understanding and delivery of commissioning strategy.
- To assist the Commissioning Team deliver project completion.
- Input to the project report, reporting on progress and deliverables associated with package of works.
- To offer high level strategic thinking at project level.
- To contribute information to the proposal team, if required.
- To attend and present at client Presentations & workshops.
- To manage relationships with the supply chain & Vendors
- To actively promote ISG philosophy and culture.
- To produce precise and succinct project reports.
- Monitoring of the programme and contributing to mitigation measures.
- To take a lead role in the presentation of the project to the client.
- To offer buildability advice and value engineering solutions.
- Be aware of element costings and costs
- Promote and implement Zero Defects quality Initiative, ensure the project delivers to a high-quality standard.
- To implement Best Practice to deliver safely and to schedule
Skills & experience
- Knowledge of the pre-construction and construction processes
- Knowledge of good manufacturing processes
- Understands the pre-construction process.
- Can organise and manage the design phase of a project.
- Able to collate information from his team to prepare and present the project report.
- Has been involved at a senior level in medium (£50m+) and preferably at least one large (£100m+) project.
- Understanding of how to comply with a Health & Safety policy and Health & Safety management system
- Prefabrication knowledge desirable (but will not prevent application for this role)
- Major Projects experience

- Recognised qualification in Building services disciplines
- CSCS card holder
