EQUANS are recruiting for a Site Manager (Solar PV) to be based Nationwide. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance, bonus and benefits package.

Equans’s Solar EPC business design, install, commission and maintain commercial, industrial and large-scale solar PV installations. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables renewable energy suppliers, businesses, and public sector organisations to reduce costs and their carbon footprint and generate power into private networks. Our growing pipeline of projects include Ground and Roof Mounted solutions, as well as Floating and Car Port Solar installations and Battery Energy Storage Systems.

General Overview

To manage a designated Commercial/Industrial Solar PV project on site and achieve the target contributions in accordance with the contract documents and programme; ensuring that the project is delivered safely on time, to a high standard of quality and with high levels of client satisfaction.  To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure all employees reporting to you do the same and being responsible for ensuring that SHEQ requirements are upheld to the highest of standards at all times.

Key Accountabilities

  • To assist the Contracts Manager with pre-start details
  • To report to the Project / Contracts Manager on the progress against the programme
  • To ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety aspects. Fully understand the company’s SHEQ policy/strategy
  • Maintenance of company required Health & Safety procedures / initiatives, including:
    • Use of PPE
    • Site Inductions
    • Management of Method Statements/Risk Assessments
    • Undertake a thorough review of all subcontractors RAMS to ensure they have identified all foreseeable risks and implemented suitable controls
    • Obtain all risk assessments from contractors
    • To obtain sub-contractors Health & Safety policies prior to their work commencement
    • Identify training needs
    • Maintain statutory registers, including accident reporting
    • Work Permits
    • Scaffold/Lifting equipment inspections
    • In house audits / inspections
    • Site house keeping
  • Adherence to the Company quality standards including:
    • Management of defects
    • Fully understand the Construction Phase Plan Requirements, including it’s development
    • Compliance with specification
      • Compliance with materials / workmanship schedules
      • Subcontractor code of conduct
      • Considerate Constructors Scheme
    • Coordination / Leadership of the site team, inclusive of:
      • Assistant Managers
      • Resident Liaison Officers
        • Administrators
        • Sub-Contractors
        • Other site operatives
      • Assist with the preparation of the Health and Safety file
      • Maintain and update Construction Phase Health & Safety plan as works proceed
      • Liaison with the client, consultants, contract administrator, head office etc.
      • To be responsible for the opening and closing of the site facilities
      • Management of site facilities; welfare, toilets, offices, compound area etc.
      • Management of site housekeeping, discipline, behaviour etc.
      • To be aware at all times of possible commercial opportunities
      • To assist in the management of project specific preliminaries
      • Co-ordinate the Sub-Contractors as appropriate
      • Preparation / assistance with the site progress reports
      • Safe storage and co-ordination of materials
      • Be responsible for your safety and others around you
      • Make every effort to attend all mandatory courses related to your role
      • Comply with all the roles and responsibilities as set out within the SHEQ management system
      • To be responsible for the accurate / timely completion of site based documentation
      • Attendance at project and company related meetings
      • To mentor and train Assistant Site Manager and junior members of staff
      • To ensure, along with the Resident Liaison Officer, all relevant resident and public complaints are resolved efficiently
      • Any other reasonable management request

Who are we looking for?

Experience

 

  • Previous Commercial Solar PV Site management experience
  • Previous experience in Commercial Solar PV and/or electrical installations
  • Previous experience of minor civils
  • Up to date relevant knowledge of building legislation
  • Up to date relevant knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Understanding of local government construction projects
  • Experience of Partnership arrangements

 

 

Skills and abilities

  • Ability to fully operate Microsoft Project
  • Effectively manage Health and Safety including compliance with CDM Regs
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • High level of quality control
  • Financial and commercial awareness
  • Effectively manage time in order to meet deadlines
  • Professional attitude and approach to work
  • Ability to competently operate MS office (Word, Excel, Teams and Project)
  • Ability to utilise a tablet for inputting inspections and general reporting
  • Current and Valid UK driving license
  • Able to embrace change and adaptable to modern technologies
