During the 42 month programme the London and South East division of SES will work closely with principal contractor, Shepherd Construction, and will be responsible for installing all air conditioning units, heating, power, lighting, building management controls, fire alarms, security and sprinklers to the new school.
The £58m project will be constructed over three phases – enabling and demolition work will be completed by September 2010; the new school will be constructed and open for the school return in August 2012 and the final phase, which includes an underground car park, demolition of the existing school buildings and the construction of new external sports pitches will be completed by April 2013.
Derek Joiner, Divisional Director for London & South East said: “As part of our on-going strategy to ‘build before we build’, a large part of this project will be pre-fabricated off-site first, using our prefabrication facility to full effect.
“SES PRISM offers many advantages – with more than 25,000m of prefabricated services modules and completely modularised plant rooms, skids and risers planned for this project, we’re able to significantly reduce labour hours onsite, providing benefits to programme, speed of delivery, commissioning certainty and reducing our overall carbon footprint.
“All in all, this means that SES PRISM will allow the services to be delivered more economically with cost and programme certainty. “
