The firm has been dumped from the housing job and Leadbitter’s supply chain after residents photographed workers breaking the terms of a management plan at the project.
Leadbitter bosses met with parents and representatives of the St John the Evangelist Nursery and Infants School to discuss the problems which have plagued the construction of 63 homes at the site.
A statement to Newbury Today by Leadbitter said: “The Leadbitter Group has removed the subcontractor who contravened traffic regulations at its Willow Close site from its supplier list, and has warned all others that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
John Parry, Regional Manager of Leadbitter’s Central Housing Division, said: “At Willow Close, as with all our projects, Leadbitter wants to work with the community, not against it.
“I am confident that through continued communication and the co-operation of all parties this development will benefit the people of Newbury.”
A red and yellow card system will be employed for suppliers who contravene delivery times or access restrictions.
