The supplier day in Bridgwater comes as EDF continues with a public consultation for the Hinkley Point C scheme which could create 5,000 construction jobs.
French-based EDF Energy hope construction will begin in 2011 and the plant will come online in 2018.
EDF said more details would be released soon about its plans for a new construction skills centre in Sedgemoor, and an apprenticeship skills hub in West Somerset, designed to help the area cope with the new jobs being created.
A spokesman said said: “There are major opportunities not just for local companies such as builders, plumbers and electricians, but also for support services such as caterers, hoteliers, car hire firms and trainers.
“To deliver a project of this size we will need to procure a wide range of contracts across all sectors, including engineering, construction, transport and services, with many of our contracts being open to non-nuclear specialists.”
