But the Dutch-owned giant is hoping workloads are on the rise again as order books at Bam Construct UK increased compared to last time.
Turnover was also stable at civil engineering arm Bam Nuttall despite intense competition for work and the order book grew “considerably” during the first six months of the year.
Latest figures released by the Dutch parent company show the UK is Bam’s biggest market after the Netherlands.
UK turnover fell to €885m from €933m last time but profit was up to €20.6m from €15.5m as margins increased to 2.3% from 1.7%.
Results for the entire group show turnover down to €3.4bn from €4bn for the half year making a pre-tax profit of €66m up from €53.7m.
