South Yorkshire contractor George Hurst has sealed a deal to finish a £4.5m revamp of Clifton Park near Rotherham which came to a halt when original builder UCS Civils went into administration.

Hurst will finish the “Garden Building” at the park by the end of this year which will complete the transformation of the site.

Work stopped at the end of last year when UCS Civils’ parent company the Rand Group went down with the loss of 150 jobs.

A Rotherham Council spokesman said: “Work on the new Garden Building came to a halt towards the end of last year when the previous contractors went into administration.

“Now local builders George Hurst and Sons Ltd have been appointed to complete the building and associated Walled Garden and Courtyard, with the work expected to be completed by end of November.”
