Full details have still to be made public but the application is also believed to contain a plan to build a 25m swimming pool following earlier consultation with local people and councillors.
Tesco hopes to be start work on the site, which was the former home of a Shredded Wheat factory, early next year.

Plans for another store are expected to get the go-ahead at Old Trafford after the Government approve plans for a £32m revamp of the cricket ground. This scheme relies heavily on building a Tesco superstore on an adjacent site.
So far this year, Tesco is estimated to have awarded 47 new-build or refurbishment contracts, worth up to £300m.
