Betting Spy: Everton and Wigan to take advantage

Liverpool’s loathed owners may be staging a spirited defence of their club in the courts. But back out on the pitch it’s the toothless front line which is causing the team to struggle.

And a pitiful Premier League record of just seven goals in seven games looks unlikely to improve on Sunday when the Reds travel across the city to take on Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Now the Toffees are hardly setting the world on fire at the moment but they should have enough to sneak past a Liverpool side who are yet to win away all season.

Fernando Torres is a pale shadow of himself while Dirk Kuyt is injured so one of Liverpool’s plethora of sub-standard squad members will be helping the struggling Spaniard lead the line.

It all points to a narrow Everton victory so get on the 7/5 available with Bet365.

For a slightly bigger price it’s time to take on another big name who have seen better days.

Bookies still price up Newcastle as if they were in their pomp rather than the shambolic outfit which got relegated and has just clawed its way back into the top flight.

Sure the Toon can come up with the odd stunning result. But successive home defeats against Blackpool and Stoke are more a mark of their real quality.

Wigan are the visitors on Saturday. And Ladbrokes have chalked them up at a huge 7/2 to win despite being above Newcastle in the table and already taking the scalp of Spurs away this season.

That price is way too big so we’ll have a punt and hope the Latics leave the Geordie diehards pointless as well as topless come the final whistle.
