Overbury scoops £18m Media City fit-out prize

Morgan Sindall’s Overbury arm has won the tussle with ISG and Bam to fit out four floors at the Media City building in Salford Quays.

Salford University has budgeted to spend £18m on the 4 floors it will take up in the 12-storey building, which covers around 100,00 sq ft.

Overbury will handle detailed design, procurement, installation and commissioning of the large majority of specialist equipment for Salford University’s new TV and Radio studios.

The first phase of Media City will be completed towards the end of 2011.

The University is the second anchor-tenant at Media City, following the BBC’s announcement that it will relocate BBC Sport, BBC Children’s TV and Radio 5 Live to Salford, as well as all local and network broadcasting currently based in Manchester city centre.
