James Wates and Don Ward have been dropped from the Public Sector Construction Clients forum which will no longer have have any input from the private sector.
The forum’s aim is to get better value for the Government from construction procurement.
Dropping the private sector representatives is part of a shake-up by chief construction adviser Paul Morrell.
He believes the new body – renamed the Construction Clients Board – will be able to speak more freely about spending cuts and the performance of private suppliers.
One leading contractor told the Enquirer: “This smacks of decisions being made behind closed doors without any input from the industry which I can’t believe is healthy.”
