Based on Washington DC’s FBI headquarters, the £80m centre is co-designed by BMJ and gm+ad architects and will house 1,100 officers once fully operational in 2013.
The campus will house bodies including the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency, the Serious Organised Crime Agency, the Crown Office and HM Revenue and Customs.
Sir Robert McAlpine began work began in June on the first part of the project at Gartcosh, which is being carried out in three phases.
Graham Construction will start the second phase in February and is due for completion in early 2012.
The contracts include preventative measures to ensure that any security sub-contractor is a member of the Security Industry Authority’s Approved Contractor Scheme.
Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said: “The Scottish Crime Campus at Gartcosh is well and truly taking shape and it should strike fear into the gangsters who brings misery to communities right across Scotland.
