Vinci have several projects currently on site in the region including nine Building Schools for the Future (BSF) schemes with a combined contract value of £170m and a further four, totalling £62m, due to start this year.
The company is also on site with a 750-bed, £22m student accommodation project in Nottingham and is about to begin construction of a £10m multi-storey car park for Network Rail in the same city.
Shivers will be based in Vinci’s Sheffield office reporting to the managing director of the Northern Building Region Chris Hamer.
He will now take on responsibility for all these projects as well as driving growth in Yorkshire and the surrounding territories.
Shivers was previously a director of MJ Gleeson and managing director of Powerminster Gleeson before its sale to Morgan Sindall.
His new role follows the appointment of Martin Nunn as regional director for Vinci’s Tyne & Wear office and Mark Thomas as regional director in the company’s Warrington office as the firm continues to grow in the north.
