Work will involve upgrading more than 400 precast concrete homes to improve the thermal performance of their windows and walls.
The contract notice states: “It is proposed to infill the cavity walls with insulation and then to install a rainscreen cladding system on the outside of the walls, which shall include additional insulation.
“Properties will require the roof tiles stripping off and then to be re-tiled with similar tiles. Ancillary works such as soffit, fascia and rainwater goods may require replacement.
“The extent of the refurbishment work generally comprises insitu concrete repairs to the joints and individual components of the existing precast concrete frame at first floor level, replacement windows(steel and or PVCu), the installation of insulation to the external wall cavity, the installation of an external wall insulation and render system and the temporary removal, diversion and renewal of the external pipework.”
The council is looking to draw-up a shortlist of between five and ten contractors for the job and frims must register their interest by April 15.
