Betting Spy: Time to take on Arsenal and Chelsea

It’s been a dreadful few weeks for Arsenal.

And things could get even worse on Saturday when the Gunners take a trip to the Hawthorns to face a West Brom side fighting for their lives.

The bookies have chalked-up the Baggies at a hugely tempting 4-1 considering the fragile mental state of Arsene Wenger’s side.

Throwing the Carling Cup away to Birmingham, being passed off the pitch by Barcelona and getting dumped out of the FA Cup by Man Utd reserves is hardly the best build-up for the game.

Arsenal are still a great side. But I fear they are not as great as Wenger thinks they are and their obvious flaws come back to haunt them on an almost weekly basis.

West Brom have already beaten Arsenal at the Emirates 3-2 this season and are unbeaten in their last four home games which makes the 4-1 too attractive to resist.

It’s a big date in the construction calendar next week with the Conexpo plant and machinery show in Las Vegas.

I’m off to cover things for the Enquirer so I’m looking for another big priced winner this weekend to build up my Vegas stake for those odd free moments between a hectic week of work.

And my eye is drawn to Stamford Bridge where the battle of the billionaires sees Man City offered at a standout price.

If City’s owner keeps spending at his current rate quotes of 9/2 about the side winning will become as rare as Stoke goals from open play – not that I’m bitter about them knocking West Ham out of the FA cup.

Well I am actually. Naturally Avram Grant got his tactics all wrong. But watching Stoke barge and hurl their way into the semis was a sad day for football.

We might not be much good at this football lark at the Boleyn, but at least we try and play the game how it was meant to be played rather than the rugby/chess hybrid beloved of Tony Pullis.

But enough of my bitterness. Let’s take a chance with City to up their game and Carlos Tevez to give latest England armband custodian John Terry a torrid afternoon.
