Betting Spy: Wales way too big at 7/1

It’s international time this weekend with a good old domestic rumble as Wales host England in a European Championship qualifier.

And its deja vu time all over again as the layers have over estimated an England side run in an increasingly bemusing fashion by Fabio Cappello.

We’ll put the captaincy farce to one side and concentrate on the fact that Wales should not be available at 7/1 on their home turf against England.

They have a sprinkling of quality players and will be pumped-up for this fixture.

There’s always the chance England could finally click into gear and brush the Welsh aside.

But I’m more than happy to get on board at 7s with Gareth Bale and his boys to reveal yet another flaw in the English national team.

I’ll be watching the game in Las Vegas at some ungodly hour of the morning as our coverage of the ConExpo trade show winds-down.

The machinery market must be out of intensive care by now judging by the number of bull-necked men throwing money at the gaming tables this week.

The show is a real event out here and demonstrates the esteem the construction industry is held in.

Contractors and construction companies are united under the “We Built America” slogan and a few of our UK lobbying groups could learn something about how to market an industry.

I’ve had the odd chance to have a run on the tables but it’s a bit tricky picking the right place to play.

Gamblers seem to be either the solemn and serious type or blind drunk leaving little chance of a decent chat while you are watching you bets go down as the dealer pulls blackjack yet again.

My five days here is nearly up and that’s about as much as my wallet and arteries can take.

It will almost be a relief to touch down at Heathrow and be greeted by a miserable BAA worker rather than a pathologically cheerful “customer service assistant”.

Running Total for all bets to a £10 stake: £ -8.00
