The firm has been trading since 1978 when Dave Roberts acquired his first excavator but was placed into administration by its directors yesterday.
Graham Bushby and Guy Mander, partners at Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery LLP, have been appointed joint administrators.
They blamed Robert’s demise on the downturn in the new build housing market which led to a shortage of funds at the company and a struggle to pay suppliers.
Bushby said: “Like many in the building sector, DW Roberts Construction Ltd has experienced difficult trading conditions since the downturn in the house building sector from 2008.
“Due to lack of funding the business has ceased trading and all the staff have regrettably been made redundant.
“However, there are a number of potential purchasers and we are hoping that we may be able to secure a sale of the business and assets in due course.”
