The league table claims to be a ranking of influential Twitter users across the built environment.
But the usefulness of the list has been put in doubt after it emerged that anyone could be included by simply nominating themselves.
The table is also dominated by marketing and media professionals and consultants raising questions about the current commercial use of Twitter by contractors.
People actually working for construction companies were few and far between on the list.
The Top 100 was compiled by construction social networking site tCN. Many regular contributors to tCN appear in the league.
A lot of people who made the list were surprised by their inclusion.
People took to Twitter to discuss their success but the debate quickly turned to doubts about the validity of the list.
Tweets included: “Take it with a pinch of salt”, “I have concerns over the methodology” and “the delivery has been so flawed that it renders the results meaningless.”
