Betting Spy: Man Utd to add to Arsenal’s woes

Talk about contrasting fortunes this week.

Manchester United are flying high after dismantling Schalke in the Champions League while Arsenal are disintegrating before our eyes again in another end-of-season collapse.

So what price the Red Devils to win at the Emirates this Sunday? Well it’s a very attractive 7/4 and those odds are too tempting to resist.

I’d advise a double-your-stakes run at this one because Man Utd are always a solid punt at the thick end of 2/1.

And when the opposition are as mentally shot as the Gunners “youngsters” then it falls into bet-of-the-month category.

Alex Ferguson loves turning-over Arsene Wenger’s team and he can even afford to rest a few next Wednesday when the Germans turn-up for another beating.

Schalke looked in awe of Giggs and co. But surely commentator Jamie Redknapp was taking it too far as he eulogised about Rooney and Hernandez being the “best strikers in world football at the moment”.

I presume Jamie and the lovely Louise didn’t take in Barcelona during their tour of the globe promoting Thomas Cook.

That’s the sport sorted out so let’s turn to what the bookies think about the Royal Wedding.

Paddy Power is offering prices on everything from the colour of Kate’s dress to how late the bride is.

Now I like a punt, but I think sitting watching the ceremony with a stopwatch in hand might be the sign of a problem.

The list of wedding guests seems a bizarre mix of friends, family, loyal servants and ,er, sports people and singers who the pair quite like.

Now I’m getting married later this year and have decided to adopt this approach.

You can see your mates anytime so I’ve fired off invites to Smokey Robinson and Billy Bonds and I’ve saved them a space at the buffet.

Alas I’ll miss the Royal nuptials as it’s my stag weekend in Portugal but I’ll be hopefully toasting a Man Utd win with more Super Bock than is sensible.

Running Total for all bets to a £10 stake: £ -68.00
