Contractor panels will be used for individual contracts worth up to £15m, covering an expected programme of works worth around £200m over the next four years.
The £1bn upgrade of Gatwick is being rolled out over the next two years, in order to deliver modern facilities finally ridding the airport of its state-owned Seventies heritage.
Much of the change is cosmetic although Gatwick also plans to built a multimillion-pound extension of the North Terminal and remodel check-in areas.
The panel for tier one contractors covers turnkey packages requiring management of subcontractors.
Gatwick Airport also aims to sign up specialist firms covering civils and paving; fire alarm systems; HVAC and building services; and M&E disciplines.
Firms have until 16 June to prequalify with formal invitations to tender being issued on 16 May 2012.
