The developer is reported to have seven new projects for the south-east and the Midlands in the pipeline.
Most of the demand for new space is being driven by supermarkets, which are proving more resilient to the downturn than other retailers.
The developer has been granted planning permission to start building a 100,000 sq ft extension to a Sainsbury’s in Wandsworth, south west London and a 70,000 sq ft Primark store at its Westwood Cross mall in Kent.
Other projects in the pipeline include a development for Tesco in Taplow, Berkshire, a new Morrisons in Crawley and a 100,000 sq ft extension to a retail park in Derby.
Land Securities and supermarket chain J Sainsbury are also rumoured to be working on plans for a near 600,000 sq ft retail development on the 30-acre Battery Park site in south Birmingham.
Their Harvest joint venture is understood to aiming to submit a planning application for a mixed-use development later this summer.
