Construction of the 14,500 sq m school will start in January 2012.
Designed by BDP Architects the school will be the latest in new through-age academies, incorporating primary, secondary and sixth formers.
The new academy for the Integrated Bradford LEP will be built on the land adjacent to the existing school buildings on Oaks Lane, which will remain operational during construction.
The project will see the school intake expand to 1920 students of age 3 to 19 years.
Once the Academy has been built, the old buildings will be demolished to make way for sports facilities, which will include state-of-the-art pitches, available for community use, as well as that of the school.
Dave Price, business unit director for Wates Construction, Yorkshire, said: “This marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with Integrated Bradford LEP, which we hope will continue to grow and strengthen.
“We have an excellent site team in place to start work and we intend to use our role in this project to provide training and employment opportunities in Bradford.”
Completion of the new Dixons Allerton Academy is scheduled for August 2013 in preparation for the start of the new school year in September.
