The man was hit as he walked along Battersea Rise at around 9.20pm yesterday.
The Metropolitan Police said ee was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency workers. His next of kin are yet to be informed.
The man was killed after an awning apparently collapsed at Le Bouchon Bordelais, a French restaurant and bar on Battersea Rise, according to eyewitnesses.
A Met Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that the police were called at 9.20pm yesterday to Battersea Rise after a piece of masonry fell on a passer-by. He was a 27-year-old man and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are yet to be informed.”
The spokesman confirmed the incident was not related to the recent riots in London.
